Inside Episode XXXXI: Join Editors Nic Zimmermann, ACE, and Charles Little II, ACE, as they share their journeys into the craft, emphasizing key skills such as storytelling and realizing the Director's vision. Nic will delve into the making of "Greatest Night in Pop" and "The Twister: Caught in the Storm," exploring sound design and narrative challenges, while Charles will discuss the emotional impact of docuseries editing, including his work on the sports series "Full Swing" and "Welcome to Wrexham." He’ll also highlight the importance of collaborating with story producers to elevate the edit. Award-winning Producer/Editor Garret Savage will moderate the event.

Charles Little II, ACE, editor credits include FX network’s internationally acclaimed documentary series “Welcome To Wrexham,” which garnered Charles his first Emmy win at the 75th Emmy Awards. Multiple seasons of Ryan Murphy’s hit drama series “9-1-1” and “9-1-1 Lone Star” (FOX, 20th Television) and Lauren Greenfield’s shockingly provocative 5-part Mini-Series for FX entitled “Social Studies,” which premiered at the prestigious Telluride Film Festival in the fall of 2024. Charles has also produced and directed a multi-camera competition series for MTV, a global ad campaign for Singha Beer and has received bronze and silver Telly awards and Best Editing awards for his works. Charles is an active member of the industry’s most prestigious organizations, advancing the craft of motion picture editing and advocating for diversity and inclusion across the film and television industry, both below and above the line. His affiliations include: American Cinema Editors (ACE), Motion Picture Editors Guild (IATSE Local #700), and the Motion Picture Editors Guild’s African-American Steering Committee.
Nic Zimmermann, ACE, is an award-winning documentary editor with a diverse body of work that includes Emmy and Grammy-nominated "The Greatest Night in Pop," "Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare," and "The Twister: Caught in the Storm."
Nic’s work has been recognised with numerous awards including The Grierson Awards: Best Entertaining Documentary for "’Twas The Fight Before Christmas," Royal Television Society Awards: Best Edited Documentary for "Tyson Fury: Gypsy King," and nominations include American Cinema Editor (ACE) Eddie’s: Best Edited Non-scripted Series for "Drive to Survive," and Cinema Eye Honors Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Broadcast Editing for "The Greatest Night in Pop, "which premiered at Sundance Film Festival and was the most watched music documentary of 2024.
Garret Savage is an award-winning documentary producer and editor. His producing credits include "Welcome Strangers" (winner of nine festival awards) and "One October" (Full Frame Film Festival). His editing credits include the Peabody Award-winning "My Perestroika," HBO's "How Democracy Works Now" series, and "Ready, Set, Bag!" He has edited projects for Paramount Pictures, ABC/ESPN, Discovery, IFC, AMC, MTV, and more. Garret was a Sundance Documentary Edit and Story Lab Fellow, taught documentary editing at NYU, and was the president of the Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship for ten years. He lives in Boulder, CO.
